Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Veteran Bollywood actor Madhu Malhotra, known for her roles in several popular Hindi films of the 1970s and 1980s, has passed away in Mumbai. She died on March 13 at the age of 71, leaving the film industry mourning the loss of a familiar face from classic Hindi cinema.
Malhotra appeared in a number of notable films, including Satte Pe Satta, Hero, Karz, Vishwanath, Rishta Kagaz Ka and Qayamat. Although she mostly played supporting roles, her performances made her a recognizable presence in many films of the era.
She gained particular recognition for her appearance in the iconic song “Lambi Judaai” from the film Hero, directed by Subhash Ghai. The song, sung by Pakistani folk singer Reshma, became one of the most memorable musical moments of the film and helped bring Malhotra wider attention.
The cause of her death has not been publicly disclosed. Her funeral was held on March 14 at the Oshiwara Crematorium in Mumbai, where members of the film fraternity and admirers paid their respects to the veteran actor.
